Clarification on Direct Selling and Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) in Singapore
The Direct Selling Association of Singapore (DSAS) has issued a letter to clarify the legal position of legitimate direct selling companies operating in Singapore following recent media coverage regarding multi-level marketing (MLM).
DSAS wishes to highlight that, under the Multi-Level Marketing and Pyramid Selling (Prohibition) (Excluded Schemes and Arrangements) Order, legitimate direct selling companies that reward independent distributors based on the actual sale of products and services, and which operate in compliance with the applicable laws and regulations, are permissible under Singapore law.
As the national trade association representing responsible direct selling companies in Singapore, DSAS remains committed to promoting ethical business practices, consumer protection, and industry self-regulation.
